Cambridge...

Sunday... the day before we had been in Oxford, today was the time to visit another important university city in England, that day that weather was awful, it rained a lot but we didn't care, Cambridge is surrounded by the Cam river (there is the origin of the name) . We visited there Kings Chapel, it is called this way because it's construction lasted 74 years and under the reign of 3 different kings, the construction started in 1441 in the reign of Richard III, continued in the reign of Henry VI and finally was completed in 1515 in the reign of Henry the VIII, and impressive part of the chapel are  the great windows that it has, those are hand painted and are original from those days,   they are so important that during the WWII they were removed to protect them from damage.

We also visited Trinity college, it was founded by Henry the VIII, this college has an interesting history and  really famous people studied there, for example the prince Harry of Wales and Sir Isaac Newton, they even say that a descendant of the original apple tree that inspired the gravity theory of  Newton is in that college, also because the college is royal property is one of the few places where is allowed to eat swans.

A funny part of Cambridge history is that many of the colleges (as the same as Oxford) had been victim of practical jokes form the students, for example at the entrance of Trinity college is a sculpture of Henry the VIII originally it was holding  an orb and a sword both made of gold but one day the sword was not longer a sword it had been replaced for a wooden stick and the sword was lost for ever.
